What the f*** are pivots? I got all the parts of my model pivoted but I have no idea what they are good at. I thought that through them, you could actually move the parts of the model but without displacing them (keeping them linked somehow). If you think you could explain how can I use pivots in animation and what are they good at...

pivots are crucial parts of the model, there is one for each object id thing and it goes from one to well the end, particle emitters, bones, attachments, etc.

it tells us where the thing is, the bone, where the particle/ribbon emitter, and where the attachment will be placed... was i confusing?

Yes... Because I still don't get how I can animate an object (with no emmitersyet ) using pivots. What I mean is, how can the pivots help me? Check this tutorial and tell me what am I supposed to move: the pivots or vertexes? http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showthread.php?t=67285

And another problem, isn't there any way to keep part of the vertexes still while I move the rest of an object? Example? Leg! I know I'm a real noob but I'm just learning (I haven't been modelling before... I started 2 weeks ago). Thanks!

i strongly suggest if you want to animate in programs you use milkshape much simpler and i'll be posting a step by step tutorial, handy tips, etc. in about 1-2 weeks

Come on Daelin keep trying, no1 said it was gonna be easy. Im sure you will done it :) Im going to try modelling too, soon...

Good Luck

Animating is really easy, screw pivots. just use bones.

Place the bones and line them up perfectly then use the link tool and link the mesh to the bone and your set.

well link upper leg bones to hip and shoulders to chest of course.

I used to use pivots ect ect.. but now i just use dummies, or bones, less distortion and what not.

Models and skins are easy.

Daelin if your still having touble im me.

Oooh, thanks guys. I forgot about this. And yes, pivots are quite an A**. I think I'll try using bones. Meanwhile does anyone know where I could find an emmiters tutorial? Or perhaps someone make one. It would be very much needed and would help a lot. Perhaps give examples of emmiters and stuff. Thanks guys!
