Does anyone know of a way to tell if a peon type unit is carrying gold or lumber?

The only way I can think of is if the peon is issued the order "resumeharvest". This works for peons leaving a gold mine with gold on their back, and for when a peon gathers his max lumber, but not for when the peon only takes a couple swings at a tree and you order him to do something else.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't mean determining if the peon is carrying gold OR lumber, but rather if he is carrying any resources or not.

Ah well, maybe it isn't possible.

Still, any ideas?
Thanks guys!
