pc freezes when playing any game

Hi,i was playing warcraft 3 the frozen throne yesterday and im playing it today and for some reason it started freezing for about 5-8 seconds then works fine for few seconds then freezes again.i have the good system specs for it i think

512 MB ram
directx 9
windows xp home edition
nvidia geforce fx 5200
i dont know whats going on with it like before this it was working perfectly but now its messed up for every game i play not just warcraft 3

Check your fans (CPU and GPU), are they spinning? Also try defragmenting your HDD drive, turning off unneeded services or programs, clean the dust, free up some HDD space, scan your computer for viruses/adware/malware andother bullshit.
If that doesn't help then reinstall your Windows copy.

Oh and does it happen when you're simply idling at Desktop?

Have you installed the most recent nVidia graphics (foreware) driver?

Probably the problem as it freezes when loading and exchanging data from RAM to VRAM which is basically the hard disk. Try upping the defualt VRAM size and also closing usless programs like MSN or other such RAM using programs.

Also could be virus based or other background overhead programs causing it to randomly chew up all your CPU power during odd times (eg norton doing a scan).

ive scanned,closed all programs,got the nvidia thing turned my computer off and didnt change a thing i dont think ill be playing a computer game ever again

Well considering that PC can not play any new computer games anyway, maybe concider saving for an update? You can get PCs for like 1000$ which can run modern games decently.

well i can probly save up for a video card update or something but first i need to find out what the problem is like whats cuasing it because before it all worked fine i can save for a small update but i cant buy another pc

No, that's ok. The Idle Process simply shows how much of your CPU is NOT being used currently.

Also for some reason idle process uses up like 16KB or ram or something which is wierd but really, it basically means idle processor time.

my cousin said its either the internet or my video card it cant be my video card its too good for warcraft 3

maybe its the internet cuz alot of big bad storms have been happening lately so is it possible that a storm can mess up a computer/internet?

Most likely the storm messed up your internet, happends when you leave them on in storms
