Good idea... But on that computer there isn't such an option.
I've just tried this from another computer and it works. I guess the particular problem is with the stupid Word Opener or however it's called.

What sort of computer is it? Windows 95?

All modern windows OS come with inbuilt zip functionality. As docx is a MS word 2007 file I seriously doubt you are not using a windows OS. If need be, download 7zip which is a free compression program that does all opensource standards as well as decompression from almost all known standard compression formats. It does work for non windows OS as well.

Anyway, the paste bin only lets you upload certain file formats to it (it has a list of file extensions it allows, all others are blocked). I am not too sure why Ralle thought that would be a good idea but the fact remains that it does this.

Maybe it was to stop THW servers being used unnescescary for non THW related tasks or to encourage file compression to reduce server load.

There's no inbuilt zip program! I'm farmilliar with 7zip but my dad doesn't want me to install anything on his computer, and that means anything!
Still, thanks for the help DSG.
By the way that problematic program is named Word Starter.

If you are using eithor vista or windows 7 (which I am guessing you are)....

Right click file....
Select Send To from the menu.
Choose Compressed (zipped) archive.

All modern windows opperating sytem support zip files nativly. They might not handle 7z or rar files but they sure handle zip atleast.

docx is the microsoft word 2007 format. Microsoft office 2010 and other new word processing applications should support it for logical reasons.

What is the point of blocking all extensions except for a small select list? Especially since you can just change file extensions by renaming the file (vista and 7 users have to turn this feature on)...

Perhaps consider an exclusion list instead of files that you do not particually want uploaded to the hive. This would be more future compatible as you would not keep having to add new file extensions to the list every year or every time a major piece of software is released. Instead you would only have to update it if you notice particular abuse with the system (how often does that occur?).

I tried DSG's solution of zipping the file and still the download could not be initiated. The trick is that when I tried to email the text file to myself the other computer I was using couldn't recognize the file type as well, and left it to be a "File". So it's most probably a problem with the file type itself.
I'll try supertoinkz's solution next time I work on that computer, thanks for now.
