Song for Guy - Elton John (1978)

Album version

(note: I personally believe this other one to have a deeper sound and overall 'feel')

Elton John wrote and recorded it the same day one of his collaborators (a young messenger for his record label The Rocket Record Company) passed away in a motorcycle accident.

Being about death, Elton John then decided this song would be dedicated to him.

While I wait for the new Linkin Park album (COME ON THIS, AT LEAST ONE RELEASE THIS WEEK!), I'm happy for my 3rd favorite band to provide some new stuff. It's not really rock this time, but I think this is some really good Alternative Pop / Indie. Also, unofficial cover art / video but it's definitely new ID.

First things first
I'ma say all the words inside my head
I'm fired up and tired of the way that things have been, oh-ooh
The way that things have been, oh-ooh
Second thing second
Don't you tell me what you think that I can be
I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea, oh-ooh
The master of my sea, oh-ooh

[Pre-Chorus]
I was broken from a young age
Taking my soul into the masses
Write down my poems for the few
That looked at me took to me, shook to me, feeling me
Singing from heart ache from the pain
Take up my message from the veins
Speaking my lesson from the brain
Seeing the beauty through the...

[Chorus]
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down, you build me up, believer, believer
Pain!
I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My luck, my love, my God, they came from...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer

[Verse 2]
Third things third
Send a prayer to the ones up above
All the hate that you've heard has turned your spirit to a dove,oh-ooh
Your spirit up above, oh-ooh

[Pre-Chorus 2]
I was choking in the crowd
Living my brain up in the cloud
Falling like ashes to the ground
Hoping my feelings, they would drown
But they never did, ever lived, ebbing and flowing
Inhibited, limited
Till it broke up and it rained down
It rained down, like...

[Chorus]
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down, you built me up, believer, believer
Pain!
I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My luck, my love, my God, they came from...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer

[Bridge]
Last things last
By the grace of the fire and the flames
You're the face of the future, the blood in my veins, oh-ooh
The blood in my veins, oh-ooh
But they never did, ever lived, ebbing and flowing
Inhibited, limited
Till it broke up and it rained down
It rained down, like...

[Chorus]
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down, you built me up, believer, believer
Pain!
I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My luck, my love, my God, they came from...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer

Poo Party (Take the Poo to the Loo) (2014)

Composed by Shrikanth Sriram, this song for a social media campaign from UNICEF India is part of the larger Total Sanitation Campaign, which the Indian government launched in 1999.

"This song demonstrates that you can talk about a very serious issue and challenge a deep rooted social norm in an accessible, fun way, and using everyday words common to young people", says Caroline den Dulk, Chief Advocacy and Communication, UNICEF India.

According to Time.com, Mr Poo is among the fifteen 'onscreen figures that made the biggest impact on the news and our lives' in 2014.

Additional serious info from UNICEF can be read here and here.

Liberi Fatali - Nobuo Uematsu (1999)

From the OST of Final Fantasy VIII, possibly one of Nobuo Uematsu's first experiments with a combination of chorus and orchestra for music.

Lyrics:

Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec
Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec
Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec

Excitate vos e somno, liberi mei
Cunae sunt non
Excitate vos e somno, liberi fatali
Somnus est non

Surgite
Invenite

Veni hortum veritatis
Horti verna veritatis

Ardente veritate
Urite mala mundi
Ardente veritate
Incendite tenebras mundi

Valete liberi
Diebus fatalibus

Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec
Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec
Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec

Wake up from your sleep, my children
Your childhood years are gone
Wake from your sleep, Fated Children
Your slumber is over

Arise
Discover

Come to the Garden of Truth
The Spring of the Garden of Truth

With the Fiery Truth
Burn away the Evils of the World
With the Fiery Truth
Light the Darkness of the World

Be strong, Children
These fateful days

Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec

'Fithos lusec wecos vinosec' is an anagram of the phrases 'Succession of witches' and 'Love', two of the main themes in the game, and not an actual phrase in Latin.

'Liberi Fatali' translates roughly as 'Fated children' though the correct form of the Latin adjective, Fatalis, would be Fatales, i. e. 'Liberi Fatales'.

This sounds overall very good. Definitely recommend listening to this.

Edit: This performance is worth noting. :)

Unplugged - Daniel Hansson (1995?)

From the 1996 MS-DOS fantasy platformer Inner Worlds.

During its development, a contest was held on the internet to use music composed by musicians worldwide. The game's creators offered $100 for all the songs they chose to put in the game, plus an additional $1,000 for the contest winner. Daniel Hansson won the first prize with Unplugged.

Other noteworthy tracks (among others) include Eclypse, Joy of Victory, Wasteland 1 and Get into it, all by Nikola Fox.

More info about the game's musics and composers:
Game music base - database of Games, Games music and soundtracks
(includes a list of the individual composers for each song)

Note : for playing tracker music, I personally would suggest giving XMPlay a try.

This has very catchy tune. Lyrics are very funny as well.
Not in my all time favs, but it's always good to change the kind of music you listen to.

Whenever I've looked up the lyrics of a song, I was almost always disappointed. It was because of my disillusion that the song with the powerful melodies that I liked didn't necessarily have those revolutionary or powerful lyrics as I've imagined it while I was listening for the first time.

This song, wasn't one of those cases. I've liked this song from the beginning, but when I've looked up to it's lyrics, my love had just expanded twofold.
