'Hades' by Kalmah; this is seriously Finland's least overrated band. The three first albums with their Iron Maiden masturbation joined with Scandinavian melodic death metal and folk influences is pure brilliance.

What I don't understand is the fact that the intro - rather, the first 10 seconds - of 'Thousand Years of Oppression' sounds like a Lifelover intro! x'D

And it's metal, as long as it looks cool, it's good enough for an album cover. No matter how goofy it is. Gods fighting mythological creatures? Thumbs up! Gods smacking the bum of the world? Hooray! Fire and brimstone, thunder and lightning!

'Tears for All Those Who Died' by Tha-Norr; raped by the light of Christ.

German black metal doesn't get much better than this. ColdWorld's pop metal has been damn close at times and Desaster just almost did it with 'Proclamation in Shadows'. However, Nagelfar's 'Srontgorrth (Das dritte Kapitel)' is one damn strong contender.
