I know what everybody thinks when they read this thread title!

"What a noob, he doesn't even know that you have to add 'Inventory (Hero)' to 'Abilities - Normal' to give a unit the inventory slots!"

You are dead wrong...
I made a custom unit based on the Demon Hunter hero, and I have added 'Inventory (Hero)' to 'Abilities - Normal' (I actually didn't change it at all, because it was already there), but still I do not have inventory for my unit!

The Gameplay Constants have not been changed and I can't find anything that prevents 'Inventory (Hero)' to be active. What's going on here? :eekani:

Again, I made a new custom unit Demon Hunter, named Z, I placed him in the map, and again he does not have any inventory. I've attached a screenshot of it.

This pretty much brings me to a troubling point. The map I'm making is based on the original Final Fantasy IX game. I'm not sure if it is against copyright protection to bring a game based on their original game to other people. I've already made contact with Square-Enix ([email protected]) to ask if I need any official permissions or anything of that kind to bring this map online.

That is why I think I shouldn't upload this map until I have been given official permission by Square-Enix to make this map available for public. That is also the reason why I didn't placed the map on the Map Development section yet. I just work on the map alone, and if I can't get permission for this map, I guess I'll just have to delete the entire map. No point of keeping it, because I have the full game which is a lot more fun

So if you can tell me what info you need (and where to find it if I can't), I can tell you.

I think this should do it. It's called Part 1, but the other parts are just other parts of the game who's only relation with this part is that they're in the same campaign.

EDIT: I've exported the unit data and imported it in another map, placed the same unit (the completely edited Demon Hunter) in that map. There he does have an inventory! :eekani:

any slight chance you might have messed with or deleted the skill in the abilities? u say it imports correctly, maybe you have an initialization trigger that turns off the inventory or something just on your map.

I've only made new custom stuff, not edited anything existing. And all that is in my Initialization trigger is hiding other units (not the one I'm missing Inventory on) and a cinematic that only shows 1 point.

Nothing pointing to loss of Inventory.

Maybe check Data-Item Capacity for the ability anyway.. weird glitches might have occurred, automatically changing that..

That's all just fine. But what I just noticed is that the Demon Hunter I made who did not had anything changed, also doesn't have hero abilities (Mana Burn, Immolation, Evasion and Metamorphosis). But I've made a custom ability and added it to the customized Demon Hunter, and he can just use it. What could this mean? Do I need to make a custom Inventory (Hero)?

Um, by any chance is the demon hunter hero being given to the player via shaired unit controle? If so its caused by the hide inventory option located somewhere I forget being left on so that it is hiding the inventory.

Simply disable the hide inventory and it should be visable again.

The unit is under Player 1's control from the beginning of the game and hasn't changed owner, but it might be a bug, so I better disable it, just in case.

EDIT: I believe the option you meant was 'Enemy Inventory Display' under Gameplay Constants. That is marked True by default, so that can't be it.

Found the problem.

To fix simply enable the inventory ability again.
Under ability properties for the player you disabled all abilities (including hero inventory which is needed for holding items) and as it was disabled it would not work.

Fastest way to fix is to turn off custom abilities in that menu and as it reverts all abilities back to their orignal status (enabled) it will fix the problem like it did with me.

Ive found another bug:
The big demon hunter. When looking at heroes in the upper left corner, it says he has a remaining skillpoint. But i cant find the skill point ability button...
-Oh, ofcourse the abilities he had were also just turned off...
