If you will create this map great, then It will be realy good and realy nice to play! 
IDEAS:
-you have an ability to build house, where you can upgrade your bow or armor, you hire hunting dogs...
-you should create a small village in the corner of your map, where wil you sold deer's horns, meat or skin
-on the start there will be just peacufull deers, and then there could be agressive deers.

Ideas;
-If you can upgrade weapons etc. We need materials that we can harvest.
-Other deer hunters that is Computer controlled.
-Can place traps.
-Use the Ashenvale forrest
-Lonely Wolf.

Detailed maps, and maybe make a few choice of camera types for the player. I really enjoy a good 3rd person cam with a great detailed terrain. But some others don't.
yeah, add bears also. For trap thing from lonely wolf, you can use statis trap, change "stun buff" models with ensnare's net models. :idea: Just some thoughts.

Make a Skill be Hunting Dog Companion, like Rexxar's Misha (permenant)
Maybe a range upgrade Skill also...
Multiple Weapon options
Upgrades, but you need to take out time to cut trees (but you harvest fast)
Bears that hide in caves but will jump out to eat you
Birds to hunt also
You must hit attack to fire so that he doesn't auto-fire
Use Rifleman with the Crossbow attachment so you have bow
You can get rifle but have to buy it at town
Forest Rangers who try to stop you via Ensnare (long duration)
Big Deer who wanders, but will try to kill you, it drops extra stuff/points
A line of sight Skill, you start with poor sight range but then get GOOD
just a few suggestions
