Need advice for buying new shirts and avoiding shrinkage

Whenever I go shopping to buy new clothes (in this case, shirts), I usually buy Medium because it fits me perfectly. But after I wash them in the dryer and washer, they SHRINK and I can't wear them any more. What can I do to NOT GET MY SHIRTS TO SHRINK?

Heat shrinks. Watch out for cotton. Try hanging up your clothes on a clothesline. Get +1 size. Lose weight.

Keep wearing medium if its a good fit. As purge says, cotton is a big culprit of shrinking. Wash in cold water only and have your dryer cycle set to use no heat.

You can research it from Google. I find it quite odd that you have washer and dryer problems and you ask this on Hive. If you can't ask anyone in person, there are other and better forums/websites to ask about this. Maybe Yahoo! Answers, ChaCha etc.

Seriously though, I'm not a big fan of that style of muscle shirt. I'm somewhat anti-fashion; or at least trendy fashion. I'd go with a high neck-line and slightly longer sleeves.

On topic: I'd just get a size up. I'm far too lazy to do anything other than wash on warm and dry normal.

Woot X-Death. Don't throw clothes you care about in the dryer. They will shrink (duh), but their lifespan will also be much shorter.
Dry them in the wind instead.
Another + is that you will save energy and do everybody a favor.

Wash them in lower temperatures.

Don't use the dyer and don't wash it above 40 degrees (celcius). Hang it outside to dry or something like that.
