Hey people, my name is michael, aim from argentina, and aim making this map, and rpg for being exactly. But the problem is that I wanna use Jass or vJass for making the triggering althought it's so confusing.

I was wondering if someone would have the kindness to teach me some of Jass and how to properly use it, and please don't tell me to read the Jass tutorials because I've read them all, and I still dont get it. My thing is terraining, but aim still interested in learning this programation language (cuz that's what it is, right?)

Well, hope some of you guys could have the time to teach me, I'll be so grateful, and of course if you wish you can participate on my proyect.

It's called Battles of Galimeas

I'll give you some info of what is about.

Description: Long time ago, the ancient prophets of Galimeas predicted the arrival of some strange
forces upon the Earh. Now, their premonition became real. The army of Galimeas fights the
evil forces to contain them as much as possible until the coming of the heroes of The Sacred
Order, desendants from the prophets themselves, to erradicate the evil forces.

I still have a lot to improve to the terrain, but, honestly, I consider myself a non-bad terrainer unlike other people who just put some trees and a blizzard style cliff with some water and think that the people would like that way; no, I always try to find perfection when it comes to modeling a map to look like an epic style atmosphere.

Thank you for your time people.

P.D: Sorry for the bad english, aim still studying English classes apart from school, I got two years left.

i looked at a couple of the pictures. wow you seem to be working hard at the terrain. good. i've communicated with others on skype lately about map making, so if you want to ask me questions about jass, you can talk to me there...or you can suggest another messenger program, also(i have contact information in the trigger editor of my map the demon hunt tournament, and i also respond quickly to private messages at hiveworkshop). i don't know everything about vjass but i do know quite a bit and i've been using it for quite awhile.

Comments: Honestly, I can't say your terraining is bad. It's just a little plain in some areas like the cities. Try being a little more creative. But other than that, superb!

You said you wanted vJASS tutorials? Here are some:
JASS Helper
The Complete Guide to JASS, vJASS and cJASS (OLD!)
vJASS Beginner's Tutorial
Coding Efficient vJASS Structs
Custom Event Data
Other Tutorials

Hope this helped!

No, I said I was tired of reading useless tutorials, I need someone to explain me about questions and things I want to ask, and to teach me how to make good functions and stuff like that, so I can make my rpg without any leaks, plus I want to learn Jass

If you want to learn JASS or vJASS, just read the tutorials. They're simple enough to understand. If you still can't understand, just ask the tutorial creator or a veteran map maker on Hive or any other Warcraft 3 Map Resource.

Post in the forums if you want to request for a resource (Spell, system, terrain, trigger etc. etc.)

PS. Tutorials are not useless.

Well, obviously I couldn't understand the tutorials, that's why I am asking for personal help. And as for the comment "useless tutorials", that's a personal opinion of those specific toturials. In no moment I said that a tutorial is useless. Sorry if you get me the wrong idea.

Thanks anyway

Still need help? I can hook you up with some good Warcraft 3 map makers, just so long as you just ask them questions. Just PM if you want to. No worries, everyone's opinion is useful in some way or another. Post here if you still need help.

actually despite the hive workshop having a fantastic quality of models and an even greater quantity of models, the tutorial section is pathetic in general compared to other map making tutorials. a few of the ones over at thehelper.net are really, really good and much better than the ones here. so i wouldn't blame him for saying the tutorials were useless. i learned tons and tons more from maps submitted at hiveworkshop than actual tutorials submitted here.

The Hive's Tutorial section isn't useless.
It's just too specific optimized. The tutorials are meant either for advanced mapmakers or the beginner's tutorials are copied from another site and have already been read by a still confused beginner mapmaker.

But if you're advanced, you can find some hefty and useful knowledge here. But it's not for everyone.

Complete guide thing has been slowly being updated to specifically target vJASS. The first chapters are actually in the tutorial section here.

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/...ing-up-newgen-we-intro-trigger-editor-188349/
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/jass-ai-scripts-tutorials-280/introduction-comments-188351/

Other chapters up through 8 have been revised in my pastebin, those 2 in the actual tutorials section have been revised 2x >: P.

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/pastebin.php?id=p9pw0r
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/pastebin.php?id=yjbj92

The variables chapter is going to be turned into an interactive tutorial so that 0 code has to be worked with, meaning it'll teach you specifically how variables work and how to use them ^_^. All about variables, wonderful. It'll be using String Parser to accomplish it, so it'll be like a wc3 command prompt.

I can honestly help with some of the questions if you have any, just shoot me a pm, but i prefer more advanced questions ;P.

Other newer tutorials you might find interesting, considering you are making an RPG, are ones concerning data encryption.

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/tutorial-submission-283/data-encryption-save-load-codes-188790/
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/tutorial-submission-283/data-encryption-using-cipher-188801/

Those tutorials have hardly any code in them, they are marked as JASS because it just use JASS to show the examples, but the example code is like setting variables, it's pretty much pure math ;P.

save load codes and data encryption...yes that's interesting stuff but i've got a lot of other stuff to learn for the moment, haha. i'll try to find free time to read those.

i have to reread examples of code many times and still only halfway understand it. there doesn't seem to be enough explanation in your tutorials.
