Alright, first off, thank you to all of those who responded to my post regarding 3d modeling programs- I'm now using Milkshape to create my models. Special shout out to Chilla_killa, who gave me a link to a great tutorial for milkshape.

I decided for my first model to take the modeling aspect a bit easy and to really work on creating a great skin for the new model. To that end, I have created a dark elf warrior from the warhammer world based on the model of the blood elf spell breaker. I created the helmet and the spear from scratch, and heavily modified the spellbreaker's model the make the unit appear slimmer and taller. The skin is still a work in progress, but it is far enough along that I thought I would show it off and get advice. The spear, shield, curiass, and helmet are far from finished. Feedback very welcome.

Since I imported the spell breaker model into milkshape, all the animations have been wiped. As far as I know, I have to make a new set of animations for it. If you know how I can import the spellbreaker animation onto a milkshape model (or have a link to a good tutorial that would show me how), then I'll just have to make one or two new animations for the unit for a spear thrust out of defend and in defend mode. Actually, if you have any good milkshape animating tutorials that are not on this site, or any suggestions for animating models, that would be good as well. Otherwise I suppose I'll figure it out myself.

I was also curious on the color scheme- specifically I'm debating if I should add any gold/brass flare to the armor. I feel like as a basic soldier he shouldn't have it, but then again It may really help to set off the gold. Thoughts?

A very well done Blackguard. Did you import the Dark Elven symbols on the shield and bottom-half of the robe?

Perhaps a stand animation where the spear is beside the Blackguard, rather than lunging in front?

Alright, update on the skin.

My Dark Elf warrior's mesh and skin are more or less finished. You can see it in the pictures listed below. Since there is a bit of confusion, this is not a black guard, but a dark elf warrior, the average citizen soldier of the dark elven army. I may be making a black guard later though- he'll have a more ornate weapon, a completely closed helm (as to get rid of the face polies and allow me to add more spines on the armour) and no shield. Different skin too.

The next step is animating. I've looked over a few tutorials, but I'm still extremely apprehensive about it for some reason. Can anyone offer any advice? Does anyone know how the bone structure of the blood elf spell breaker looks? I'm just really hesitant on this one for some reason. Thanks, and as before, crit is welcome

After trying a few rigging attempts and studying the Spell breaker's bone structure (which looks terrifying), I've placed a request post here for any helpful member of the site to animate one sequence of their choice on my dark elf so I can learn from their rigging and animation to finish the animations on the model. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
