Whenever I create a new map (File -> New Map) its a w3c file type, this is not the problem i know how to convert it to w3x but it will still contain the old Reign of Chaos stats like Gryphon Rider, Frostwyrm and Chimera having Piercing rather than Magic attack and I find this very annoying. Yes I can make all the changes from RoC manually but theres potentially some other RoC data i may not be aware of and having to do it every time I create a map is also annoying. Is there an easy way to change the default file type to w3x when creating maps?

check Scenario -> map options. there you can select which game data is used.

also if you are using any units or functions that are newer than ROC that should automatically change the file type and probably all the rest of the stuff. (so you could try just shoving in a dummy unit based on a naga or something...)
Thanks, it was Game Data Set: Default (based on map melee status) -> Melee (Latest Patch) under Map Preferences -> Options.
Edit: I guess it has nothing to do with w3m huh (i confused w3c with w3m in the original post)

About the w3m thing, i have to convert every new map created manually, is there an option to save it as w3x by default instead?

One last thing, how do i give rep? cant seem to find it after the site redesigns

There is no known way to change your w3m maps to w3x.
As long as the map contains modified data like gameplay constants, triggers or even the present objects in-game (such as Blood Elf units), the map will only be opened with The Frozen Throne (even though you opened the w3m map).
World Editor warns you every time when you save the map so that it can only be played on The Frozen Throne:

I also heard that when you change your Game Data Set to "Melee (Latest Patch)", your map will be saved as w3x by default.
