I'll go for chiptunes if the contest will allow that.

I think any sort of music should be fine.

@Hawkwing: That rapping contest was just StasMaN flauting about his rapping obsession. He might've been serious but it seemed like he was the only one who wanted to do it.

I had a feeling there would be an interesting contest like this.

Well, I'm still tired from the last pack I've released, but I MIGHT make an exception and try a chippy muzak.

But first I need to know some contest rules, so here goes:

1st - How long will this contest last?

2nd - I know what's a chip music, I've been hearing chip musics since the Era of MOD, S3M, XM and IT module musics, especially in the Era of MS-DOS. But the real question is, are the flanger, chorus, reverb, or whatever effects allowed?

3rd - How much length should the music last?

4th - And the drumbeats? Should it be chip-like or not? Or both?

5th - Are SFX allowed? Like blasts, winds, tech-noises, etc.?

6th - Using NES, C64 and SID Instruments, are these allowed?

If we have the interest (That's what has always kept me from hosting one of these things in the past), I'm all for it.

Get out your chiptunes and your bitbops, ladies and gentlemen, and prepare to do ultimate battle!11!11!

I asked bob a LOOOONG TIME AGO (like two years ago or something) if he wants to host musix contest, but now I think, we'll definitely have enough interest :D

Sounds interesting, but for those of us who both have and can play an instrument is that allowed? also is singing allowed, rapping, any voice at all? how about music with your mouth like hums and whistles? effect noises (wind fire ect.)? how about layovers, if you have two instruments can you record one then record the other and lay them over, or just get another person? can you have more than one person? if you have more than one person can you both sing or is it one singer only? Allot of questions and these aren't near all of them, I suppose these are being worked out in the mod-lobby or whatever.

If this is really going to start (I hope so >.<) then I need someone to tell me a good program that can make music like SNES or something similiar :p

The SNES audio (aka SPC) has a similar quality to the Amiga's MOD audio, so you should try using Fasttracker, MadTracker, ModPlug Tracker or MilkyTracker if you are aming for this style.

Okay, I've finished my chip music.

Requesting permission from Pyritie or any moderator to upload it here.

Two versions included: One with a reverb effect, and the other without it.
Instruments used: Chip, NES and C64 VST plugins (Both instrumental and drums.).
File type: OGG (Meant for loop.)

Accept, or decline?

So, can someone clarify? What is the "theme"?
Hmm, I don't know if my small suggestion is a bad idea, but I think everyone should create their music based on any theme they prefer or like.

Like I did.

HAHA, If you don't have a MAC like me then you should just go home Macs rule the world of sound!
Perhaps...

But remember, it's not any OS, any music-making program, and/or any media that counts. What it counts is how well, creative, skillful, and good you are when making music.

Don't you agree?
