I don't know how the campaigns are done but in the other case you may have to place the items, hit points, mana of the hero and the position of the hero on your 2nd map and then use the triggers with whatever event you want to happen:

- Set Next Level for Player 1 (Red) to Maps\FrozenThrone\Scenario\JustAnotherBoringWarcraftIIIMap2.w3x
- Victory Player 1 (Red), Hide scores, hide messages.

in your current map. You may have to play your 1st map and save your game exactly before going to next level and then open your second map in the World Editor to set the numbers you want. Then by loading your game, go to next level and by having set the stats already in the editor, you will play your 2nd game with the same stats. That's what I do and I like it.

Ok it is possible, just rather on the time-consuming side.

Firstly this is ONLY possible single player. What you have to do is store ANYTHING which can be changed in the Game-cache. then using set next map and victory triggers you then have to load the next map and restore everything from game-cache.

Now, this will only work AFAIK on a single session, so each time you restart wc3 you'll lose the game cache.
