Molten Glow

I could use a little advice. Can someone show me a good way to make a kind of glow? I need to know how to make it look like there is lava and flames and that sort of thing glowing downwards from between plates of armor. Like where one plate overlaps the next one I wanna make a fiery glow coming out and shining on the plate thats underneath. Would be very much appreciated.

Well a simple way is to take a low opacity brush of say red/orange and make a single brush stroke then with a higher opacity brush of yellow make a single smaller brush stroke in the original brush stroke (pointing in the direction of the light source).

I am cheepzors and make a new layer underneath your cracks, and put on a layer glow.

Layer glows are hideous. Anyhow, this is how I did mine
