Theme Rough Description
1. Western... Ho-down Weeelll pull up a seat pilgrim and grab yer best ho for this down home ho-down of western debauchery! (maybe space western included?)
2. Nothing but a Pwn in Chess Your mission, should you choose to accept it... it to take a chess piece, and turn it into a unit (artistic interpretation GO!)
3. Vehicular Manslaughter Give the motor-head inside of you a raging boner! This free-for-all mechanical orgy will separate the boys from the men.
4.We are cyborg.... we are legion You and everyone you love will be assimilated into this soulless, calculating and efficient contest theme. Make your best half-organic, half-mechanical monstrosity and pray it doesnt kill you when you turn it on. Resistance to this theme... is futile.
5. Shapeshifters Shifting shapely shades of shadows. These creatures will give you nightmares. Behold! as they change shape BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES! What sort of creatures are they? Why do they have this ability? only you, the contestant can figure that one out.
6. CREEP - LIKE A BAOWSS What sort of man would combine those two songs? I'll tell you what kind. YOU! You have to make a boss unit of a creepy race in wc3.... bonus points if you make him dance.
7. Deadly sins The scourge of mankind, our greatest human flaws manifest in the form of wc3 models to wreak havoc on your custom maps. But who are we kidding? We all know that this is just an excuse for everyone to make a 'LUST' model of some hawt dame..... (and for pyramidhead to make one of gluttony)
8. Pose as a team... CAUSE SHIT JUST GOT REAL! That's right, its time to make some legit squad units. And I'm not talking about a hydra, or some Siamese twins conjoined at the ass. I'm talking about MULTIPLE personality disorder here people! Its like a unit... within a unit. BWAAAOOOOMMMMM
9. WHAT? A RED SPY IN THE BASE? The proverbial 'jungle-book' story. A unit taken out of his natural habitat and raised by another faction. Ex. An orc raised by humans, his past is dark and mysterious, will he be a symbol of human hope? or orcish rebellion? This theme will enTHRALL you
10. Ima make sweet music with you Make a musical unit. Arthas' rock'n'roll bandmates? A unit that uses an instrument as a weapon? (like a big battle-axe aha... ( ಠ_ಠ) Or even a one man band! Get out your headphones 'n' turntables fellow DJs... cause we about to kick this party INTO OVERDRIVE! BWAAAOOOMMMaWAUBWUBWUBbuabubblubdub!
11. PANDA...MONIUM! What is black and white and red all over? .... ill give you a hint, its not an old dick tracey movie. ITS A GIANT KILLER PANDA! Our model section seems to have a shortage of monochromatic monstrosities, and its up to you to remedy this situation. So grab some bamboo and hunker down for this unBEARable contest.


This POLL has been revised to make it multiple choice and public. The more 'vague' themes have been removed and the votes have been reset to 0, everyone please vote again. There is a posibility that we will reuse this poll, and choose the second option for the next contest.

traitor/spy is actually a mis-interpretation by anarchian...

the theme is Dissident - a fella of some race that lived all his life in another race's context - not necessarily a spy, or a traitor.
I still prefer it and I voted for it

Multiple choice would've been better... I felt so bad to vote for just one.

Western - uninterested, too much america
Chess - too simple too static
Vehicle - enough with the mechanical units
Cyborg - Good theme
Shapeshifter - good theme but it will take a lot of time to finish to make 2 units
Creep Boss - A very good theme I like it.
The 7 Cardinal sins - I don't understand this as a modeling theme. Do not try to explain.
Emotional metaphor - I don't understand this as a modeling theme. Do not try to explain.
Squad unit - A lot of animating. Takes too long.
Traitor / Spy - I don't understand this as a modeling theme.
Musical unit - Good theme.
Musical Metaphor - I don't understand this as a modeling theme. Do not try to explain.
Panderan - I don't like this.
Mounted units - good theme but it takes a lot of time to complete, you'll have to make 2 units

My vote goes to Creep Boss.

yea, the ones you listed as 'hard to understand' are basically just taking an ambiguous 'idea' and trying to create a symbol for it, give it a physical shape. Like making a fat-bahstahd to represent the concept of 'gluttony'. or making an orc in human armor to represent a 'traitor'

i dont think ill vote on this poll, im interested in seeing how it turns out

anarchy, you silly bastard. you got the theme i suggested wrong

it is about some unit of a specific race which was born and raised in another race's context. not a SPY, but something like:
- a naga necromancer
- a human druid
- a night elf voodoo guy

You still got it wrong, I think, though. :p
I think his point is something like a human baby raised by orcish people, so he would probably be stronger, and go around in grunt-like clothes, and such. Not necessarily a "traitor", as in, he doesn't necessarily wish to harm his original race or anything.

Some themes are really interesting, but I think we dont have so many people that can finish then, you know, animations are the omen of many modellers (like myself...) and some ideas need well executed custom animations.
I liked some of then, but I dont have the hability nor the time to make custom animations, and western? really a no no, creep boss is funny, but I like competitions that normally give to hive some useful models to the game (my point of view). The mouted I almost voted but a chess themed wold be cool, makes a good variation of models and styles that can be made.

The Poll has now been reset. the more vague options have been removed to both (hopefully) avoid confusing themes and to narrow down the poll for a more concentrated/accurate tally.

This poll is now public and multiple choice. we might reuse this poll for the next contest .

Pandaren - Pandarens are quite an underused theme in stuff, and it would be good to see it appear more times.

Musical - Considering my forte's in music, I'd love to see other pieces of stuff related to it being made in Warcraft III as well, would be interesting.

Chess - It's quite unique, considering I've never actually seen anyone pull this one off before, so yeah it's worth a try.

wrong.

it isn't about modelling a chess piece, and the interpretations will most likely be practical wc3 units, like priests, mounted unit from a specific race, etc.


even if it wasn't...... meh. contests don't need to be useful anymore... the database is already very big and wc3 modding isn't all this active anymore
we just had a spaceship contest ffs!
