Ok I need help.
I added a model of Buster Sword
c1.jpg

Then I attached it to an ability which was on a hero in the field.
c2.jpg

But when I used the ability nothing happend... Blank

The way I made it with the ability was from instructions from http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/attachments.php

Can someone plz help me?

Try this, in the import editor take war3imported\bustersword.mdx and change it to bustersword.mdx.

It might be the way your attaching it. Just attach it through triggers. Create a SFX at the point left hand on whatever unit you want with model Buster Sword. Sry i dont have an exact scree of what the code would look like but you shold be able to do it.

model path files do not matter as long as the ability points to that specific path. it is the texture that requires the appropriate pathing as the model itself references to a specific path name. So the problem lies elsewhere.

but er... why is your target attachment point...(6? w/e) 1? if anything, it would be on the next row on # of target attachments. (but apparently that value can be 0 and it will still work. :emote_huh: )

and what do u mean by "use the ability"? model attachments should be based on passive abilities.

Jonnny I already tried taking off that and seeing if it worked, I was unsuccessful
Gost that didnt work
Chaos overlord.... ... ... Huh?
VVV I realized that a while ago and fixed it but it still didnt work
For your second part about the use the ability.. ... Huh?

To tell you the truth I think the model is the problem because when I try to make it an item instead, and I put it on the field, its a big green checkered cube..

Ok I said that you might have attached it wrong, but you must of messed up one of the paths. Ok here is what you did wrong: you put the texture path like this: Textures\BusterSword.blp. No, no, no, thats bad. Here is what the path should be, quoted directly from the page you dl'ed from: KitabatakeBusterSword.blp. Try changing the texture to that and come back.

The only problem is you keep the war3mapimported\, also I don't know what you do in that screen: target attachment=0 and target attachment point=1

Are you want to make some new bug??

How to: Attach a Model or an Effect to a Unit

How to: Attach a Model or an Effect to a Unit provides a lot of information about this subject.

Some models just do not have proper attachment points. Other item or effect models may not be added to them without editing the model itself. However, units in the game using such models could receive attached models using an ITEM attachment ability.

Looks like Hive must put 1 new rules, if someone give the right link to the question than the thread must be closed for post... Because it's over already

Just give my opinion to Hive

That's correct: At the Hive approved tutorials may not be commented on or replied to.

This is because all approved tutorials have been tested, proved sound and and are allowed to stand on their own merits. Questions must be asked in the forums, as you have done.

As I said above your problem may be that the model may have no attachment points. Please include a link to the unit and sword models that you are working with (or attach them to this thread). Maybe someone will have time to help you work out the difficulties.

Actually JrWolfe you can finish this with much of try without ask it at hive... My first model has been taken without any path I know, than I do it one by one and try until next hour and it run himself.. Things like this should give you some experience
