Without increasing the size of the unit, yes?

I don't know of a way. But I do now a few tricks for sizing special effects if you need.

Well, there's only one way afaik:
Find unit which fires that projectile and make sure that "Animation - Scale Projectiles" (or something like that) is set to True.

Else you will need to manually increase the size of the missile's model via 3rd party tool

What is the exact name of tool?

Hard to say - I'm no modeller, so I don't know which tools support .mdl/.mdx models... I would look into the tool or tutorial -> 3D Modeling tutorial sections here on hive as it may be written there which 3rd party programs to use.
Basically any program that allows you to modify/create models. But I don't think it will end with only increasing the size. You may need to re-map the texture on the model and re-work it's animations (I may be wrong on this tho)

missile system?!
Missiles system doesn't use normal projectiles (e.g. the "spear" thrown by Troll Headhunter units), but instead uses a special types of units that use the model of the missile (imagine a Footman unit that doesn't use the Footman model, but instead the "Spear" model).
Through triggers the system moves those units to mimic normal projectiles.

Certainly an option to your problem, but I'm not sure how efficient that would be if you only need to increase missile size of some unit.

It does have its advantages tho. You have complete control over projectiles (which are actually units) so you can easily increase its size, apply vertex coloring (RGB colors and alpha channel), you can also make some advanced spells like reflecting projectiles, etc.
