mass ensnare help

How do i make ensnare affect a group of units as opposed to just its target?
I've tried increasinf the area of affect but that doesnt work.

Maybe you could edit War Stomp's time and effect so it looks like they are ensnared but they are paralyzed instead.

nice idea but war stomp isnt a ranged ability. If i cast it then im surrounded by paralysed units and unable to move.

Oh, you are right. Then what about taking a spell that is ranged, remove ALL effects/damages etc. then make an invisible unit that is ordered to use War Stomp at the point you cast. Then when the unit finnishes, he is removed.
It can be done.

there must be a simpler way. Like taking blizzard, setting the damage to zero, removing the animation and setting target buffs to ensnare.

Come to think of it, I've just solved my own problem
