Map visibility

It's probably a stupid question, but one I've had trouble finding a clear and definitive answer to.
Some maps I've downloaded from this website and other don't show up on my list of maps I can host.
IE I have about 20 maps in my download folder of which 6 show up when I try to host a game.

I have the latest patch, am running windows 7 x64.
I originally thought this was because some of the maps were overly large, 4mb+, but after further investigate, even some of the smaller maps arent

Usually, maps with a big name don't show up on the maps' list. Rename the maps that don't show up to something else, shorter.
