Map Approval

I apologize if the answer to my question is somewhere in these forums, but I searched for a while and could not find it.

My map has been pending since September of 2008. I understand there are a ludicrous amount of maps and the people who are approving maps don't have all the time in the world, but it's been almost a year and I'd like my map to no longer have pending status.

Is there anything in particular I need to do in order to get my map approved or disapproved? Or do I just need to keep waiting?
