So i've been trying to get a basic arrow model to work. The model is a small arrow that's in the basic wc3 when you pick a hero in a tavern. It's the arrow that hovers above your 'nearby patron'.

Now. for my map i need an arrow that can horizontally point in different directions. While i was able to flip the model on it's side, it remains static and i'm not able let it move in a different direction. If i assigning the model to a unit it does not turn when the unit makes a turn. It just moves and remains a static image besides that.

I hope the video makes what i want a bit more clear. I want the arrow to be able to be turned like the peasant It doesnt need any animations. I think this has something to do with the bone structure of the model, (it only has 1) Anyway, i have no clue since my only experience with animation is transfering those of vanilla characters over. However everytime i tried to fix this model just caused my software to crash.

In this case my problem can not be fixed by one single manual rotation as that would require me to carefully calibrate it to about 18 different angles and import all of those models seperately. (even to try it out ) And i didn't even manage to get a single one right in my first 2 hours by using that method. In contrast i can fix it with a single formula if the model is turnable.

So yeah, if any one has any idea how to do this please tell me. or help me fix this :(

Mucho's gracias anyway

it looks like you use reforged but i made it in pre-reforged war3 model editor and i'm surprised it didn't spontaneously combust when i edited it
i recommend you use retera's model studio instead for reforged stuff

Yup, this was it! literally fixed about 5 hours straight trying to do that. Thanks man. (well first two hours were just me finding out i couldnt use floating text arrows since those are capped at 100 max.

So why did the lock option fix it? Is that all you had to do? I have both retara's and the old one (because the old one can rename nodes) I managed to crash retera but i was also just trying to add random nodes to the same parent in the hope that it would allow me to turn it. It actually did unlock in the preview but when i saved it the program just exploded. I'll be honest, i read through some tutorials but i have no idea what i'm doing when it comes to bones, meshes geosets etc.

unchecking them is what does it
"billboarded" is what makes the model always face the camera and "billboarded lock z" is what is used for auras and other effects like that, i find it hard to explain right now, just try to fiddle with them yourself and see how it is
i also turned the arrow to face forward

Oh, i see, i never looked at the 'dummy' thing. Only at the bone itself.
