Looking for sound editor program

I'm looking for a program that can split a track or remove a part from it accurately. I don't know if there are any programs that can check for identical parts in a song, but if such a program exists and it's able to split or delete parts of a track, then I'd really like to know! Thanks in advance.

If you look for basic functions you can just use the windows recorder.

It can only edit wav files but there are free converters.

I know, but Windows Recorder is really terrible. I need something with which I can split very precise, which I can now.

Oo That is very easy with the recorder...

You create a backup of your sound and open the copy.
Then you go to the right moment and just use the option which delets everything before this moment.

But if you don't like that there is a freeware tool which I found:

Audacity is by far one of the better free ones out there. However when using it in a wc3 map the output file size is pretty high. You might want to get a ripped copy of cubase and use that to export since you can control the level of quality in almost every shape and form.
