No. But units that have locust can cast spells themselves :x

damn, i wanted to fake units as doodads so i can have my hero have a "Drag" ability, what triggers the locust unit (that has a doodads model) to follow you so its like your dragging it.

now i dont know how i can make the ability. :(

You could make your "drag" ability instant cast (something like berserk, or if you want a cast delay, maybe roar or channel) then your triggers could find the nearest dummy unit-doodad hybrid and start dragging that one.

Try making the ability castable on doodads, then store the doodad in a variable(there goes MUI) and make a dummy unit with the same model as the doodad
is it possible to have props as a target? i know theres debris but isint the trees/destructibles only?

true but it would make it a real pain in the but, as there would be many of them in the same place and if its a puzzle to move certain objects to a certain place then it would get fustrating. (especially since its first person camera making distance guessing difficult)

Ooh Ooh here's an idea :p
It WILL be a pain in the butt, but it would make your map all that much more awesome.

Give your unit a "Grapple" ability. basically you target a point, and your grapple shoots out, say up to 400 range in the targeted direction, it'll snag the first dummy unit-doodad it comes in contact with(if any) and then pull it close so you may commence the dragging process. Should probably come with a Release skill as well. :p

I love the idea but i stink at creating spells, how would i make those visul effects of a grappeling hook? even with siphon mana or something i dont have much of a clue.

Well, obviously you're a beginner. So this one might sting a bit.. you'll definetely need to use JASS to do this effectively and make it MUI, :/

It's worth learning!

Tested it, doesn't work, tried the fields: decoration, debris, tree, terrain
i used acid bomb as the dummy ability..
i was able to target a barrel, or crates.. etc (debris)
i could not target tree (but if i tried to target anything other than debris it sayed "Must target a tree.")
i could not target any regular doodads.

Im not that new to world editor, i just never cared to make spells or try jass, gui has everything i needed to make maps, nearly everything anyway.

If a doodad is set to selectable does that mean decoration target will work?

There is a field in doodad editor that says Art- Selectable in game. D'oh.

False. This field is only available in the destructable editor.. bit different.

Originally, he was asking if he would be able to target a unit with locust, meaning something that cannot be selected. Destructables that can be selected CAN be targetted, but this changes the whole idea there was in the first place.

:bored:

Ok, big mistake from my side. Still he can make doodads into destructibles, but make the distructibles invulnearble, but they can STILL be targeted by spells

problem is i got a good 300 costom modeld atleast 100 of which i want to be moveable. so transfering them seems more of a hastle then just making dummies

300 custom models? What the hell is your map's file size? :eekani:

well in overall theres alt more, probably atleast 800 imports, its only 2.7mbs right now but should be atleast 4mbs when im finished the long large amount of triggers to be made :/

Thanks for all the help guys im gunna make dummy units for them and switch them around.
