I've seen a few posts here and there saying that it's bad to null local timers. At the same time, other posts are saying it's fine. Can anyone explain this to me?

We...don't really know. Seems to be related to issues with handle stack corruption, so we avoided it, although it could just be a catalyst.

Just don't null and use a timer recycling system instead, like TimerUtils (over at WC3C, by Vexorian). Since timers are never destroyed, only reused, there is no need to null them, as the handle index never needs to get freed.
