Dentothor: I agree with what most of the users are saying in the comments. Its really thick lightning, and it quite blobbly. If you look at actual lightning, its not this blobby and its a whole lot more jagged and thin.
As far as the highlights go, I think there needs to be a bit more, with a much brighter colour. Possibly something close to white.

this is reeeaalllyyy messy... it doesnt look as much like lightning ... as it does just a random glow effect with a small squiggle in it. and the filesize is crazy ridiculous for something so small
