Eventually, Ner'zhul, his sanity cracking, would agree to serve Kil'jaeden, who passed the orc's spirit through death and revived as a spectral entity. The dreadlords bound his disembodied spirit to a specifically crafted set of armor and a mighty runeblade called Frostmourne.” I doubt they would just give him a sword and call it torturing haha.

Yeah, I guess the armour should have served as heavy load so movement would be slow or impossible while the helm would have been akin to a crown of thorns.
Regardless, Kil'Jaeden eventually needed Ner'Zhul to do stuff, not just feel pain and be miserable -> The Plague->The Scourge.

And Ner'zhul, even in this form, would be as useful as simply lying in a block of ice.

Ner'zhul's powers and his mental ability to travel the world without leaving the frozen throne would still remain the same. The only thing he can’t do is physically leave his point on the ice throne

Let's say that the hands behind his back are such a magical construct that Ner'zhul has no control over, and therefore if the Nathrezim want to chain him (or never give him freedom at all) they simply have complete access to control these hands (thanks to Kil'jaeden? ), and therefore let's say that the Nathrezim could chain their hands to the same place where the ice throne was, and the hands would simply hold Ner'zhul and he would not be able to free himself (+ pull the sword out of his soul otherwise he could probably destroy his soul).

This is a really interesting idea, very much. A good alternative to what we actually had (just a soul that is encased in ice)

Well, honestly, aside being paralyzed, Ner'zhul showed no signs of torture. Also, he didn't seem to have a body either, not even a spiritual one (at least visible). I'm not sure how he'd be able to do a good job by being stabbed and moved held in check or controlled by spirit hands (who do they belong to by the way?). Anyways, I don't think the idea of this model is to show a static Ner'zhul, rather a spectre, dynamic kind.

The sword was cast out so that Arthas could find it. While your concept is nice, in this case it doesn't fit.
The Nathrezim or even Kil'jaeden didn't show any signs of other means of constraint aside the icy prison, otherwise Illidan wouldn't have been needed to try approaching the Frozen Throne physically or use the Eye of Sargeras to sink the whole continent. Even after Arthas merged with Nerzhul, the devils didn't have any influence over him.
So, the key word here, is alternate (story or what have you). The model would also work well for the canon, representing part of Nerzhul's torture before being glued to the ice cell.

I've always thought there was too much emphasis on Arthas as the Lich King when it should have been made clear that its half-human/half-orc.

They could have used Ner'zhul to incorporate the orcs into the main story line, instead of creating the bonus campaign.

Works fine with some issues; APPROVED.

For HIGH QUALITY: the hands binding him should be double sided to not show an empty void when his back is turned; also he needs a proper fading transition in death.

Damn.
Quite imprissed to say the least. Everything works with the model. I found only one issue with the animations and the geoset on the front cloth.
Still this is another 10/10 looking model.
