D is reason enough for him to be fired immediately from the staff. And C, lol, you think number of reports is reason to close a thread? Oh dear...moderation by numbers is fail.

Your translation is wrong, and your reasoning behind it is stupid at best. Thus I don't give a damn.

It was a spam thread, and as such it gets closed.

If you really want it reopened you can use magical words like 'please', and 'thank you', and other such cooperative, and dignified ways of asking for my volunteered time, or even perhaps go bug WILL or who ever else about it. I'm not going to waste my time pruning a spam thread for little bits of actual postery for an insultive being. I do not volunteer my time for such a thing.

So until the moment you do decide to ask nicely, the thread stays closed, since there is no point in wasting our time cleaning a whole thread of spam for a few little measly nuggets of an actual topic.

Go make a new thread and make sure this one doesn't derail itself! Or else report the crap early enough before it explodes into a mess that requires mass pruning.

Shit, I'd imagine that a moderator, let alone Void himself, would understand what position Elenai's in. If you have such a problem Void why don't you be the Off-Topics moderator so you can open and close all the threads you like?

You're being very inconsistent. If it was a spam thread, why did you not close it immediately? Why tell people to stop the spam if it is a spam thread?

Therefore, you must, logically, be being false in one of your statements.

So you admit that your moderation sucked?

Finally Elenai did right job! First time Elenai used 100% of his brain and did totally right thing! Elenai man just keep good work! They annoyed even God with that fucking Jury group and threads. I understand once, even second and eventually third rime, but constantly Jury and Jury and again Jury and Jury.. it became annoying... I do not understand why several people cant take that Jury wont exist as name anymore here for Site's sake! However, if you keep pushing it, it will be just worse for you! And making this bullshit of thread naming it ,,Learn2moderate" is totally idiotism. If you have something against moderator, then report it in property place! You tried before to kick off moderators via Site Discussion!

Why would you dis-respect Elenai's moderating capabilities if you didn't think yours were better? That's like saying "hey, you suck, but I'm worse". You're basically just invalidating your point.

I never said anything about who is better than who. This is not about what I'm qualified for, though, it's about what my position is. Furthermore, I am not "disrespecting" his moderating capabilities as a whole, I am criticizing this particular incident. Don't make so many assumptions!

Because I am a magical being who is capable of changing his mind after receiving enough complaints about it, and after I've had a little time to consider the situation and look at it.

There are such things as

"HEY! quiet down or I'll close the thread"

*looks at the thread*

"Hmmn...."

*Ponders the thread*

*Receives more complaints.*

"It really is spammy, and will only lead to more spam"

*Closes the thread*

So you admit that your moderation sucked?

*facepalm*

Lrn2saypleaseduh.

I'm not going to volunteer my time to do something inefficient and tedious if I'm going to get this sort of attitude.

Then why the hell are you on the staff?

Just because you are a staff member doesn't mean you are now to be deprived of being treated with common decency and an ounce of respect such as 'being asked' instead of being 'demanded and etc'.

If he wants it done his way, he can ask nicely in an appeal or something. I'm not going to budge for a spoiled attitude. And neither should any of the staff. We are volunteers, we are not butlers for the users with special titles and privileges.

Uh, why shouldn't it? If he's going to act like a child (wait, even children can say please...) then why should he get his way? As far as I know this site is for a mature userbase. If someone doesn't want to help someone who's being troublesome they shouldn't have to. Just because you're a moderator doesn't mean you have to slave away to the community's every whim and desire.

Shit, Void, it sounds more and more to me like you think you can do better than Elenai. Either that or you just are purposely trolling him for no reason.

You shouldn't expect it. Don't ignore someone just because they take an undesirable approach, the problem isn't going to go away.

I didn't plan on ignoring it at all. However that doesn't mean I have to drop more important things and run at his whimsical call just because he is Captain Griffen and demands it.

What if someone higher-ranked than you demanded it?
No one here is talking about anyone that is higher-ranked. We're talking about Captain Griffen and Elenai.

And no, he doesn't have to do what someone of higher-rank asks him to do. Whether he keeps his position or not is up to them, but he doesn't have to do it.

If an admin told you to post pornography or be banned, would you do it? You'd be banned either way.

Argumentum ad hominem is a fallacy here; my attitude one way or the other is entirely irrelevant to Elenai's moderation.

Please, remain on topic, Elenai, or I'll report your posts.

I am on topic, and my point is relevent.

If you want anything from me that requires a little extra effort of nicety on my part, you WILL say please.

I am not going to budge for you or anyone of the sort if you or they are going to act with a demanding and spoiled attitude about it.

That is how my moderation works, and it is perfectly fair. And if that means that you don't get your way when you decide to throw a mini temper tantrum, then tough shizzle.

"I did my job in the most efficient way possible: If you want something special then say please, or sit your butt right back down."

And that's the final word on that issue.

No, there are two situations here:

A) If it was Ralle who told me, I would send him a PM asking (nicely, of course) what the hell he was thinking, and ask him to rethink the situation, and if he didn't, I would resign.

B) If it was an admin, I would send Ralle a PM asking him to warn that admin.

There's the proactive solution, and the "oh well there's not really anything I can do anyways" solution. I choose the former.

-------------------------

Now, on topic...

Elenai, please stop being so god damn stubborn and start to be a little more thoughtful, considerate, and mature about how you handle situations like this...

You don't need to be a chef to know that the food tastes like shit.

As an ex-director, I've been critical of such behaviour, so it seems your point is even more invalidated. CG is also a director at wc3c. It's not as if these people have no moderation experience.

Finally Elenai did right job! First time Elenai used 100% of his brain and did totally right thing! Elenai man just keep good work! They annoyed even God with that fucking Jury group and threads. Go away. You aren't helping things.

Why are you so offended if it gets closed, many threads got closed when getting excessive spam, like those about wars happened last year, thread about pivok, about dota etc
And we complain every time. And people ignore it. Why do you think this is now in site discussion and not in private?

If he wants it done his way, he can ask nicely in an appeal or something. I'm not going to budge for a spoiled attitude. And neither should any of the staff. We are volunteers, we are not butlers for the users with special titles and privileges.
What you people don't seem to understand is that they did ask nicely. Again. And again. And again.

They didn't just innately dislike you. They grew it because you never learned.

I don't know... i kinda see this thread as well turnin' into spam. oO
Then punish the offending users, not the thread creators.

I am not going to budge for you or anyone of the sort if you or they are going to act with a demanding and spoiled attitude about it.
You people never budge anyways. Drama doesn't just make itself. People do not inherently dislike you (as I said above).

Hell, even this sort of topic is exactly what the problem is. I can't count how many times I've talked about this, and everyone is like "you are right", "I agree", blah blah, more useless support, then nobody listens. And then surprise, it does get out of hand! The disgusting part, though, is that it's then blamed on the people who posted the thread, when everyone knows the action asked for will just result in people getting ignored.

To change things you need to capture emotion and the population. That's just societal nature, so to speak.

When the dust clears here, I think a cleaning of the thread was the best way to go here, which is indeed what has happened.

Wrong way to go about it to start with? Very much so. Is this argument now getting us anywhere? Not at all.

Now hear this:

If what we have here is a thread that has become plagued with spam and the staff member that happens by this sees there is a problem, then the solution should be evident. If useless posts can be deleted to keep the thread on track with the original intent, then do so. If it seems to be a lost cause, close it.

If the staff member is unsure of what to do, then REPORT IT. I certainly agree that some outside opinion on the issue would be great in this instance. Now then. If a user has a problem with a decision about a thread, that ALSO should be reported. What we do NOT need is a thread like this where we can start up some epic trolling back and forth between staff and users. That most definitely will not get us anywhere.

So, to this particular issue.
- This thread is closed.
- The original thread in question was cleaned and is now open.
- That should wrap up this problem. If further discussion is desired, take it up somewhere like Admin Contact. Yes, threads do get seen and replied to in there. I know it's shocking.

Thank you for your cooperation.
