Island Survival

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
Island Survival
Map created by Locrito, original idea by Guramax

Map Information
In the map you play as a peasant, that has been victim of a very strong storm that destroyed his ship. (or their ship, depending on how much players.) The goal is to build a camp, and gather enough lumber as to make a ship for each player, and leave the island. The bad part, is that you will also be attacked by pirates, trolls, and mur'guls that roam the island.

Credits
The original map, was made by Guramax, I re-did it the way I would like it most, obviously, with his permission. Icons that aren't from Warcraft III, were extracted from his map.

Story
Mother Nature is against you this time. Your ship is destroyed, and you have to survive in a very dangerous island, and make another ship to leave.

Other Stuff
Yes, I know theres an icy region... Let's assume the island is near Northrend.

It's a fun map however it could use some work, if you don't mind my suggestions then here they come.

Suggestions;
Let rocks hit debris/trees
reduce enemy life
make boxes move slower with 50 life
increase survivor life to 250
lower small tree life or increase survivor damage
reduce price of the crafting building
increase price of the escape boat
make it that there's a chance for the boat to get ripped apart in the ice area
Reduce build time of the first 3 structures
increase build time of boat and well as well make enemies come to attack you while your building the boat.
Add the stick item in because from the looks of it, it wasn't there.
Add more to do, a thousand survival maps don't really help anyone.
That is all I can think of... Hope it helps =)

If you fix the map up and add a bit more so it has its own originality then my rating would be 3/5 however in its current state it is a 2/5. Good luck.

I will vote for rejection if you don't fix it within a week/ by next Friday.

Store those screenshots in hidden tags as well to waste no spaces.

Review: Island Survival by Locrito

Gameplay:

Gameplay could be interesting, but I don't really agree with it's implementation at the moment:

Your quest trigger did never fire for me. And when I looked into your "Quest discovery" trigger, there was no event.

In fact you dont need to do anything but harvesting trees. After a while then build a ship and escape.
You could restrict making a ship until you get a special tool, which can be found in the enemie's camp for example.

You also could make some special event randomly which make gameplay more interesting.

You could adjust the difficutly to the number of playing player. At the moment if you play alone there are same enemies as you would play in a team of three.

Gameplay 2/5

Terrain:

On first look terrain doesnt look bad. But you really could bring more variation into it.
You're also only using 3 tiles at the moment.

Terrain 2.5/5

Triggers:

Well, lets say.... triggering could be better. You have memory leaks and not very efficient methodes.

But as efficiency is not most important in a map but gameplay... and most of triggering are doing their job you even could say it's not worst.

Triggers 2/5

Comments:

I had a bug once that I finished building my Fire Pit and then it disappeared.

Fix the map type:
Aeon of Strife / AoS, Altered Melee, Arena, Campaign, Capture the Flag / CTF, Cinematic, Defense / Survival, Escape / Maze / Slide, Footmen Wars / Footmen Frenzy, Hero Arena, Life of a Peasant / LOAP, Melee, Mini-Game

Add a version number, so people can differ new and outdated version.

Put the screenshots into [HlDDEN] [/HIDDEN] tags.

Also give credits to icon makers, if they should not been made by Guramax or you.
______________________________

All in all it's a nice idea, and can be a useful map after some improvements. But for now it's lacking at it's state and my rating is 2/5.

Well, IcemanBo listed most of the bad points I wanted to say. Anyway, here is my review:-

- The first thing I noticed is that there is an Undiscovered Quest which is never discovered. From the beginning, there should be at LEAST 1 quest giving general info of the map and another quest for Credits
- Why did u spam a lot of futile categories for ur map like: Cinematic, AoS, Footman Wars plus the rest obviously??? This is just a Survival map
- Tile variation wasn't little, there are NOT 3 tiles only in the jungle. HOWEVER, the terrain strongly lacks of some doodads like Shurbs, Flowers and Cattails. In addition, the icy part wasn't very nice
- In the beginning, I didn't understand how to cook the raw meat. Only when I had a look at what the Survivor could build I noticed that he could build a Fire Pit to cook meat. What I mean, let players know that they have to do so to cook the meat, otherwise some people (like me) can get confused!
- Not really exciting game. Keep harvesting wood, cooking food and gathering other resources with just some regular attacks from trolls and pirates. This repeated thing gets really tiring while u play the game. As IcemanBo said, add unexpected events

THE SUGGESTIONS:-
- Remove all the unneeded map types and put it only to "Survival"
- Improve ur terrain by making it more hilly (Raise/Lower) and adding more Shrubs, Cattails, Flowers and Viny Plants. For the icy part, add some glaciers in the sea instead of spamming ice floes, more crystals, rocks and snowy rocks. Replace all sunken trees with icecrown trees (if it's an icy place, also trees should be covered with ice)
- Add the 2 quests I listed above
- More informative hints could be more handy
- Some unexpected events like natural disasters. e.g: hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanos' eruption

All in all, I'll give it 2.5/5 and rate... ehm... 3? Anyway, vote for APPROVAL!

I really didn't like this thing that the Fire Pit vanishes as I also waste lumber! In the reality, this would never happen! What I suggest to do is to play the Fire Pit's death animation when rain occurs and to let a Survivor go near to it and relight it by himself with a rock. Then, reset the Fire Pit's animation. That would be much more realistic!

Eureka! I finally applied your suggestion in my newly updated map. I not expert at triggers yet so you'll think a bit odd on why there's an item about fire pits used in triggers. You'll understand what I mean if you played my map.

Here's my map's link:

To: Locrito,
Thank you so much dude.

I've given credits to both of you at my map's description.., :D

Could not understand: "Giant Wall of Test"

I don't know what you're talking about sir. I couldn't update this map because this is not mine. I only own the idea that Locrito made this map. My true map is in the link above.

P.S. please use the quote to indicate what I really wrote.
