Is this possible: black lightning

I really want to make a black lightning bolt effect. I extracted the finger of death texture, but whatever I paint black in GIMP ends up being invisible (i.e. turning it black alphas out the texture).

Is there any way to make a black lightning effect? To get a sense of what I mean, just invert the colors of the finger of death texture... it looks sweet, but it won't work in the game.

If there is any possible way to change lightning's filtration type to modulate or blend, there can be a black lightning. You need to edit .slk file first.

I can't seem to find the model to edit. The LightningData.slk file doesn't appear to have anything that looks like "filtration type." And I can't seem to find a model to edit for the lightning.
