Is there a good way to detect terrain?

Let's say we have 4 terrains: grass, dirt, snow, and stone. We want something to happen on grass but not on snow, something on stone but not dirt, etc. Can we do this?

Would be fun if we can.

Yes, there is GetTerrainType(x,y).

You can detect what terrain type the point is on.
