[Altered Melee] Is it too late?

Before you ask why this thread is in this forum, it's not much a job application as it is a map discussion. I didn't quite find a proper forum for this so I just put this here. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Do you think it's too late to embark on a new WarCraft 3 project? I've been meaning to try my hand at an actual total conversion mod for wc3tft but the size of the task, the sheer amount of time that will go into is just plain frightening, not to mention the other factors like how creative can you get, your skill limit and so on.

I've been talking to a friend who essentially said that I'd be wasting my time, that no one would play my mod regardless of how good it is and that I'd have a better shot as Sc2 for obvious reasons. But, I have no skill whatsoever with the galaxy editor. Everything is so complicated that even the creation of a custom unit require so many parameters and whatnot to be taken care of. It seems needlessly convoluted, and while I'm not opposed to learning it, I'm going to have to, well, learn it, which will take a lot of time. I mean a LOT... whereas for Wc3 I can do it right now.

So... is it too late? Do you think it's worth it? I'd love to put together a team of interested people to help me (or each other, more like) to make a total conversion mod like the one Retera is doing.

I'm the author of this map, which is still in beta, and which I made in like a total time of, 2 or 3 months (with years of hiatus), on my own, with not so great skill. I can safely say I learned a ton on that project.

What I'd like to do is pretty much the same thing in principle, but with a bit less generic a theme (holy empire, fire and brimstone, woodland animals).

If you think you're motivated and skilled enough, PM me. I already have a working lore, which is very flexible for any changes/additions/etc.

For a more specific information, someone with good 3d editing skills is paramount. A JASS coder would be a godsend as well for the more complicated things the mod could have (aka, so that I dont overload the map with a bunch of completely retarded triggers).

Feel free to ask any question you might have, and sorry if this entire post sounds a bit off or is lacking in more specific information, I'm writing this in haste. Will check back in an hour or so.
