Hello Dears,

a simple question, why can I not enable the /invisible mode/?
Is it possible to have it enabled?

Personally I like that invisibility mode is off. I have been on a forum where this mode was on and it annoyed me that I couldn't see if my friends were online or not.
if they are your friends, you should have an alternate way to contact them or a different way to see if they are online (Ie: skype, Text, IM, etc)
I will look forward to this ability in THW 2

Heh I don't have real life friends on the net besides facebook. Guess I'm the nerdy one in the flock ^^

Obviously.

It`s still annoying to do so tho, and I`m simply asking whether it`s possible to have that mode enabled.
Not like it`s the end of the world, should my request be denied.

Edward Snowden.

Heh. Funny you bring that up. I was thinking, when writing my last post, if I should include the whole NSA affair.
I understand your concern. But you making yourself "invisible" to other Hivers doesn't change a thing.
If you really, really, care (again I understand if you do, trust me), then you should not even be a part of a community like this.

Yes, I do perfectly understand that it doesn`t (really) help against stuff like the NSA; however, I`m still pretty confident that maximum privacy whereever you venture to is one of the most effective ways to tell them (NSA & co, that is) to fuck off.
Additionally, there are far more parties than the NSA doing datamining, and stuff like this will really fuck these over, because they don`t have the access the NSA does.

If this is about Edward Snowden your request should have been for me to bring SSL to the site. That way NSA cannot snoop on what you do on Hive. They CAN otherwise because they can intercept the traffic.

SSL doesn`t help per se, there are way too many insecure methods flying around (unfortunately, the NSA did a pretty well job here with their backdoors), but you might have some success with one of the more secure variants.
Anyways, this would accomplish nothing because the metadata will tell them everything they`ll need to know.

Ontopic:
The NSA argument was just the extreme; I`d like to have an invisibility mode nonetheless. I like privacy.
