If you use both Ghost and Permanent Invisibility I believe the unit will not break invisibility at all. This is used in DotA on the hero Slark who's ability allows him to attack enemies while remaining invisible.
In The WarCraft III Ability Guide which there is a link to in my signature it states that when Permanent Invisibility and Ghost are both added, a unit will remain invisible even while attacking. I haven't ever tried this myself, but if you're saying that simply using Ghost can maintain a unit's invisibility then I'll trust your tests.
