Importing height map

Hey, I want to import a height map to the editor, I've read that it's possible but I cannot find information on how to do it other than some old tool called "terrain 1.0" could be used for this purpose. This tool doesn't work probably because it's too old I guess? So does anyone have any other suggestions?
