Hiya!

I figured that I could ask opinions about my thoughts and ideas here. I got idea for campaign, very traditional base building, troop massing and hero using missions.

Background about the idea:

7-9 years ago when I played Starcraft actively, and made maps for it(very simple ones), I often used "Players War" theme for them. It was simple, and used the player color as good/evil indicator. Red player was generally bad, blue good, white the rescuable, yellow the random, and so on... I made lot of missions to this "Players Wars", but never got it really together as one campaign.

This was in Starcraft.

Now, again, years back when I tried WC3 world editor for the first times, I used the same theme again for my ideas. Never got anything ready, and had to give up whole editor stuff for a long time. Now that I'm interested about this all again, I came up with the idea.

Why not make a whole campaign for it? And that brings us to...

Player Wars: Campaign

World setting:

Alternative universe for Warcraft world. In this world, there's no Burning Legion, Sundering or similiar "big things". World's history is not revealed much as it's not important, but basicly, it has it's own story.
The two continents are there, Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Campaign will take place in Kalimdor.

Night elfs are the general race in the Kalimdor, and almost whole campaign is played as night elfs. So this is more or less directed for Night elf fans.
Night elfs are very much like they are in Warcraft normally, druidic people with strong army of sentinels backing them up.

Humans only have minor foothold in Kalimdor, like Theramore style. Orcs are barbarians that live in far south.
Undeads are the main bad-guys faction. Normally unintelligent and just plain creepy, they live far to the northeast, in snowy mountains.

About story:

Story will focus on few heroes, mainly on the main character, who is Captain of Hunter Sentinels(just made up that name, subjected to change like everything else). Hunter Sentinels are unit that patrols the far borders of Night elf lands, like for example near the mountains where undead live. This is where the story starts for our Captain.
Story will take the Captain through missions that leads her to travel accros the continent in search for allies/knowledge/items, something like that or for all of those, while dark threat looming all around her...

- Hunter Captain is young woman, orphan that was rised by the druids, which is bit unusual. Like all women in society, she too had to do her duty as an sentinel. Through hard work and bit thanks to the druidic powers, she rose up in the ranks, and was seen best located to Hunter Sentinels Unit thanks to her speciality.
There, after serving some time, she was promoted to Captain. Now she's taking her first steps as one, commanding her own squad of sentinels.

- Priestess of... something, Night elf. Basicly hermit that lives deep in the forrest in a underground temple of her own, far away from Night Elf civilization. Has powers of Arcane and Earth(shamanism). Character with deep knowledge of lot of things that she wants to keep to herself.
Second main character.

- Paladin, Sir Dragonheart, Human. Not being active playable character, only for few missions, our Night elf heroes meet this paladin in situation that requires action from our main heroes.

- Warrior, Champion Runeaxe, Orc. Barbarian of southern lands. Not being active playable character either, main heroes meet this character in unfortunate settings, requiring quick action and smart moves.

- The main bad guy. He's bad. He's really really bad. Not in "I eat your insides one by one so that you'll live to see every single gut ripped out of you" way, but in more... pure essence.

Gameplay:

Most important thing: gameplay.
Gameplay will be simple, and will NOT bring anything special to basic Warcraft 3 gameplay, except, few boss battles, but even those aren't that special. What I've thought:

- Build a base and gather up troops to storm the front - missions.
- Missions with only limited ammount of units.
- Boss fights in these missions.

Objectives vary, naturally, so there's something like "Lure 8 large hippogryph to base" and "Destroy points a, b and c to something happen", and side-quests to save for example an furblog village.

What I aim though, is to keep the campaign simple, that it is more for the not-so-skilled players that have rough time even with the basic WC3 campaign.
Every new unit will be major change, and I'd like that it has a purpose in the mission it's introduced, so the player can learn to use it, while having all the other units too.

So Difficulty: Beginner-Normal.

Words:

I admit, this is probably too big bite for me, as I have never fully completed even one map, because, I always take way too big bites and lose interest. I know how to use editor, I've done all kinds of stuff, just never really completed maps.

But, I'd like to know opinions and ideas from people. Maybe, just maybe, I will find the real, staying, inspiration to work for this. If there's anyone that is interested to play something like this and be active to comment my work, maybe that would work. Dunno really.
Wouldn't mind if someone brilliant person would want to make this with me.

Anyway! Tell your opinions, ideas, thoughts, ask questions!

I'm working on first map atm as an demo map, and will release it here when it's done.
