i don't know how to use transparency in gmax T-T

i'm trying to use an transparency degrade on gmax, but i don't know how :/
i do the image in photoshop cs3 with the alpha chanel but i dont know if i doing this right. and when i pass the texture to the gmax if looks white and nothing with transparency, i have to modify any configuration on gmax?? :/ pleasee help-meeee

I guess you can only do that in 3ds max. gmax doesn't have that effect.
