How to: Set up a Hero properly in the Altar

There's quite a bit wrong with this tutorial.

First off, you can base a hero off, in actual fact, any hero and use it in an altar. Sounds like you are quite new to the Object Editor if you thinkg you can't use them in the altar. I'd rather just edit the proper Pit Lord hero so that it appears in the Altar of Darkness.

Second of all, you say replace the Death Knight. Even if you are sceptical of using campaign and tavern heroes, you don't need to create a new hero if you're replacing one. You would just go over the original Death Knight stats, wouldn't you? Logically, that is.

Finally, you seem to stray completely away from your original concept of setting up a hero properly, mainly because you then say you can only base heroes off of melee heroes, which is a lie. Hell, I can make a flying hero that works perfectly. The only useful information here is the Art Button Positions, which are useful if you don't think of points on a graph when choosing the position.

All in all, quite useless in my opinion, mainly because it displays the wrong message. Any unit can be based off of anything. The only exception is you can't make a unit a hero or vice versa. Other than that, it's only too easy.

Training them without Town Hall requirement? That would happen for all custom heroes, not just tavern heroes. It's the same for Melee Heroes, which is why you made that trigger you did. In case you didn't notice, it's limiting the number of that hero you can get.

I think with that said, I don't need to prove with a map, although I still could :p

You'll finally piss me off and make me show you a sample map...

I've done some testing, and your right, without making one hero (that you can't get) and adding it to game play constants and make all your heroes based off of tavern or campaign heroes Dependency Equivalents of the dummy hero.

In any case you should explain why you think you shouldn't base your heroes off of a Tavern or Campaign Hero in your tutorial, its not like it would blow up your map. For some maps it doesn't matter.

You are wrong. Never be an arrogant piece of crap like you have been to me, saying that 'you can't do this' when you can. Everything is possible, but this is definitely too easy to accomplish.

You'll find attached to this post a map that will prove both your prejadices wrong. There is a custom hero based directly off of the Pit Lord, and it works. There is also a custom hero based directly off of Admiral Proudmoore. Works.

Apart from you displaying information that was false, this tutorial is completely useless. The only information it contains is the Button Dimensions for ppl who can't think of a graph or look at one of the many other tutorials with it in their.

OK. I saw the test map. My information was proved wrong.

I officially apologise to Wazzz if he has been offended by my comments on his criticism. You were right and I was wrong. I do not possess that almighty ego and know that one learns a whole life. Thanks to you, now I learned something I've misdone before and it is quite useful for my future work.
For that, Wazzz, you will receive a deserved reputation from me. Your opinion is furthermore precious to me. Thank you.

To anyone else who has been misled by the false information here, I also apologise. This thread will be deleted soon.
