How to Model with Blender?

I used Blender 3D to make a simple extruded star and I exported it as .ms3d. Then I converted the .ms3d to .mdx with Magos (and created a material and a simple stand animation). Since the model appeared all black, I edited it's texture map (UV map) with MdlVis. That model worked fine and I didn't have any problems with it.

However, when I try to do the same thing with anything a bit more complex, it doesn't work. In Magos' Model Editor (Windows > Model Editor) I see floating vertices, but they aren't connected (I don't see any faces).

At first, I thought this happens because warcraft models only use triangular faces, but I still only see floating vertices even if I convert all faces to triangles. I tried Modifiers > Triangulate and Mesh > Faces > Triangulate Faces, but I still got the same result.
