How to make model sizes smaller

Propably it's not possible.

Less polygons -> less size

Only way is to import/edit your chosen model and reduce its poly count.
 
lol. Reducing polies is not even worth some times, since 75% of the geometry data is normally compressed, unless you want to decrease the cpu power that the model consumes at rendering.

The best ways to reduce size are to canonize, convert the smooth animations into linear and to squish the mdx. Normally converting from smooth animations to linear, reduces about half of the model size.

Also replacing jpge conversion blps for low mipmaped paletted blps also help.
