Theres thousands of ways to get leaks so really theres not much we can say. Cinimatic lag can come from bombardment of effects, or even triggers looping fast.
I found this program that checks a (GUI) trigger in a text file, some actions are prone to leak so it picks them and tells you it leaks and a possible alternative. http://www.hiveworkshop.com/resources_new/tools/443/
I would also try the hives tutorials, they have good information, I believe there was a leak tutorial but im not certain.
