How to fix performance issues in single player?

Warcraft lagging as ****!

Open any standard single player map with a lot of player slots like Ice Crown. Add some bots. Start the game. Couple of cheat codes for money and quick construction just to speed up the process. Wait a few minutes and image on the screen becomes almost static. It's not moving at all.

What is going on?
Why it is lagging so hard?
How to fix it?

There are only a few hundreds of units on the map. It happens only with 4+ players regardless of the cheat codes, graphics setting or classic/reforged skin. PC spec is fine. I'm playing on 1.36.1.21015. Older patches were lagging as well.

As far as I remember pre reforged version was lagging proof.

I think this is an issue with the AI. Especially if the AI builds itself a wall, or is on pathing islands, so it cannot path properly.

Throw 12 human players into that situation and Warcraft III with classic graphics will likely barely tax a modern machine to run.

How much RAM do you have? How much memory does Reforged take? Graphics mode (old or new)?

This sounds like either the game itself leaks memory or the scripts/AI are buggy and leak memory or get stuck somehow causing performance issues.
