How to export imported Reforged models in Blender ?

Hello all, nice to be back, I'm eager to get back into modding for Reforged but I'm running into some problems, I've got Blender 4.2.18 LTS and I'm using the importer and exporter from this thread: https://www.hiveworkshop.com/pastebin/908e7269a79d86b43f0eaf58b11dbb12.23134, however importing works great but the exporter creates a MDL file that is unreadable by Reteras Model Studio, are there additional steps needed in Blender for the exporter ? Some cleanup ? I can't figure out how to export an already animated imported model...

go into magos model editor aka war3 model editor and then save the file as an mdx and then ull be able to use retera on it, let me know if u have more problems related to the blender plugin

the material is too complicated go to the shading section and make every single material just a simple image to bsdf dont do anything else the rest should be done in magos editor or in the war3 material section in the materials tab
 
okay i seem to be unable to solve this by myself, this is a rabbit hole.
installed a dozen different releases of java, retera, tried compiling it myself, tried probably all scripts and extensions for blender and 3ds max out there, i can't do it. is there somewhere a pre-compiled version of retera that supports OBJ-export? or can you point me to a place where i can download the moon well HD model directly als a .blend?

if u cant fix the material problem give me the blend file and ill do it, i dont really think i understand what u mean if im not wrong theres a warcraft hd model that u tried to import but failed if you did then i think i see the problem ur using blender ver 4.2 which can have alot of problems with the mdx plugin i consider you try working with 3.6
 
(as a first step) i only want to convert the moonwell.MDX to OBJ or anything Blender can read.
plugin (io_scene_warcraft_3) for blender 3.6 also does not work, same error as before.

-CASCView: can only export MDX (v1000?).
-ReterasModelStudio (various versions) either fail to open the CASC or do not support export to anything BUT mdx, at least for HD models, one or the other. also tried a non-comlied version of RMS.
-import to 3dsMax or blender (2.9x/4.2/4.6) fail to import, probably something in the MDX files changed?
-tried this on win11, fresh installed win11, linux. nothing seems to work for me.
-all of the above - or i'm just an idiot.

here's the files exported directly from CASCView local
path: [Warcraft III reforged (build 23556)\war3.w3mod\_hd.w3mod\buildings\nightelf\moonwell\...]

Just trying to get a .blend or .obj out of this, it does not necessarily have to be textured, the mesh would be enough for me to sculpt.

the model u exported is for some reason really broken, i exported the model myself from reforged anyway here u go

strange that the mdx got corrupted 3+ times, but good to know for the future.

may i ask what your workflow looked like?
i used casc view to look for the model in an old pirated version of warcraft reforged, maybe the version is the reason for corruption or extractiong problems,
i then extracted them then simply used the plugin to import all mdxs at once then delete repeated meshes, i then went to the shading menu and thankfully the materials were basically just there waiting for me to put the textures in, i did it it looked amazing i saved and zipped it
blender ver was 3.6 btw
