which tree exactly?
normally, you would just go to the object editor, then go to destructables, find the tree, then change the model that it uses...
The model you replace it with has to have a death animation.
I don't think there's any particular way around it.
If it's just for terrain and you don't intend to have it chopped, make it a Doodad.
If it's an imported model, you need to do it in these steps:
1 Import BLP, and MDX (might only have MDX if it uses in-game textures)
2 Make sure Paths are correct for the imported stuff
3 Save your map
4 Set the model to the object you want
5 Make sure variations is set to 1 in object editor.
6 Place new object.
Makai said:lol, i'm sure u didn't try yet.. i can't change the model... you'll get a green box...
huh? I do it all the time dude... it's not good to say to someone that you're sure that they haven't tried it yet...
here's what you need to do...
Art - model file = change this to your custom tree
Also be sure that Variations are set to Zero, or else you would surely have green boxes
and some notes:
1)make sure you imported the custom texture too if the model uses one
Now if it does, and you have already saved the map without the texture before, the WE won't recognize the texture anymore so here's what you need to do
1)delete the model file (and the texture if you imported it too)
2)save the map
3)restart WE
4)open your map
5)import the model and the texture and be sure to set the texture to its correct path
6)save the map
