Okay, this has been bugging me since forever:
How do micro chips and stuff work? All it is are pieces of metal put together and electricity moves through it. Do electrons move in certain patterns based upon how the metals are aligned? Or is alien magic that makes technology work? Or what then? And how are lasers made? Light is not any state of matter, so how can they make matter out of nonmatter to make a cool killing weapon?:ugly::eekani::hohum::slp::razz:

The answers to your questions are not easy nor short by any means.

As a short answer, microchips work using (among other things) a massive number of electronic gates (transistors) which can be opened and closed electronically. Certain configurations and arrangements of these electronic gates implement specific binary logic functions.

A laser operates by aligning light waves, synchronizing the phase and frequency of the light energy. This is generally accomplished by passing a beam of light through a special solid substance (solid state laser) or through a gas (such as carbon dioxide) or by using a semiconductor (diode) to emit the required frequency of light.

If you want more detail, I'll try my best to explain; but for now, I hope this is enough explanation to get the general idea.

lasers are killing weapon only in games in movies... no one produced yet a laser usable as a weapon

because silicon is a semi conductor, they can make a transistor out of a few atoms these days, and all they do is condense loads of these next to each other. this is why they get so hot, each one converts a small amout on the electrical energy into heat as it works, when you have thousands in a very small space the result is a mini heat factory.

Yes, many Class 4 lasers are generally strong enough to puncture through steel, so punching a hole through human skin and bone would be no problem.

The lasers used in laser light shows can kill people.

Exposed to them even for a few seconds at close range will set your cloths on fire, resulting in burns, it will soon start to burn through your flesh if not careful. That is why people do not generally put their hands over a laser light show laser like they do with projectors. Oh yes and they can also cut steal like the ones Samuraid mentioned at close range, but unlike most powerful lasers, they are made to be mobile so overall are a lot more dangerous.
