I don't think you can get rid of them, you can just disable some of them

You can replace the icons in "Gameplay Interface" under "Icon - Minimap <stuff>" with transparant icons.
However, I would recommend you to use customized UI as well then. (Doesn't necessarily have to be different from the normal UI, but you do want to remove those things where the icons would be.
For day/night cicle... I am not quite sure if that is possible but you could try to do the same.
