Anywhere that players could conceivably read that makes sense to you. In one map a friend named a racoon after me in a village; find something that fits your map.
For maps uploaded on the site, they should be in the map thread description. Just look at how others make their credits list.
As for inside the map itself, note that the description doesn't allow too much text and neither does the quest log however, the second is a better choice since you can create multiple Credits lists as quests but that means filling your quest places with non-quest material.
I'd do it with text messages or unit transmissions instead sometime at the end of the map or accessed by clicking something or writing a chat message.
You could also do it like Pyrogasm suggested but if you have a lot of names to credit, you'll need a bit more space. You could potentially do a little garden with sheep or animals, each having the name of the person you want to credit.
Tutorial - How to give credits in a map. You made a cool map and used custom resources (models, icons, skins) or received extra help in your map? And now you want to say thank you to your helpers? No problem, this tutorial will show you how to do so. 1.) What are credits ...
If you have a lot of them, you can make a text screen in an image editor and use it as a fade filter, but it means changing the file imported each time you need to update the credits.
Or if you're crazy like me, you can show each model in a cutscene, showing a victory animation, with the name of the maker in text on the unit - it was probably not worth the time it took me
Item and ability tooltips are also a great place to fit a lot of information. A 'credits' unit could easily have 18 slots for items + passive abilities with relevant icons and credits tooltips.
