A hashtable is a 2D array for storing values through 2 integers that act as keys. Imagine it as a hall of locker with each locker (data) is identified by the value of its row and column.
The hive does have a tutorial-section, you know?
There's a tutorial called A Complete Beginners Guide to Hashtables, perhaps you should check it out? Edit: it does require some GUI-knowledge. If your GUI isn't that great, then hashtables won't help you much anyway.
