How can I enable a unit to upgrade into a different unit by using any sort of an ability of something that would show on the unit. Also I would like it to have a cool down on it if possible!

So you want something like Druid of The Claw/Talon's Bear/Storm Crow Form?
If so, you can just use those abilities and edit them, add cooldown, etc.

If you are wanting to make them unable to convert back into the original then you could use Destroyer Form, that'd also allow you to add gold and lumber costs.

Metamorphosis is perfect for you but Crow Form is for Professional(Believe me, I made Mountain King with Gryphon Rider form but everytime I use it. Game Interrupted!!
