How can I apply effects to a unit?

How can I apply effects to a unit, without using a trigger. I've seem to forgotten how. Just for example adding lets say a fire effect to the model attached to the head.

You could use the Sphere ability of the Blood Mage, remove the Art - Missile Art then change the Art - Target, Art - Target Attachment Points, and Art - Target Attachments.

The only problem with it is it gets destroy when attacking then restores it after the attack.

Use the fountain regenration ability: Life Regeneration Aura
Set hp healed to 0, targets to self and change
art - target and art - target attachment points

A variety of abilities work. I've gotten in the habit of using the Item Attack Bonus ability.

Sphere is one of the least useful due to the aforementioned disappearing during attacks.
